Ok so I'm in the process of moving my blog and all the posts. Prepare yourself for mass amounts of photo dumps, because I'm also taking the time to clean out the bazillion photos I've collected over the years(50 on average per day, yeah I'm a horder). Who knows maybe the new format will just be photos and music with no explanation, I haven't quite figured out how I want the new site to look. But blogger is ugly and I can't take it anymore.

I'd love to know what brings the 45 people who read my blog daily here... if you could let me know what you think is lame and what you enjoy about my feeble attempt to make a (internet)connection, I'd really appreciate it chickens. I'll let you know when the transformation is complete and send you the new address.

I'm pretending that somebody actually cares about this, or hoping at least.

This evolution is hilarious and so awkward.

I had to have been like 4, walking on Sandy Beach which was at Glendo, a resevoir near our town.

What is this 2nd grade? Ok I was adorable am I right? Seriously my mom always put ribbons in my hair at that age and I loved it. I should bring that back.

I was student of the mutha effin' week here. Which meant you photo was hung up in the entrance of school, you were made to feel like it was a big honor but I learned later that everyone had a turn.

This photographer's assistant really rocked this set hard. Bean bag... check, slinky... check...if this had a lazer background it would be perfection.

I think this is around the time that I first remember picking out my own outfits. That was a bodysuit mind you, they were so cool, snap crotch and all.

Thanks for letting me get glamour shots in 4th grade mom! I look HOT.

Fuck yes... I was watching Clueless everyday and listening to gangster rap(Warren G which isn't really gangster but I thought it was) and really obscene R&B (Adina Howard). My sister read my diary aloud to her friends, but it was only mildy embarassing since it only contained lists of the boys I had danced with, I LOVE MARCUS CURLEY written everywhere and "Freak Like Me" lyrics.This is one of those I'm in 7th grade and stuck in awkward hell. It's like my face wants to form but it's not quite ready yet. I wouldn't wear makeup, I only wore white nike shirts, a tomboy. That was a bad time. My awesome classmates made a slam book and my page was filled with the meanest shit ever. Kids are dicks!

Nice CK shirt, that and Tommy Hilfiger were massively popular in 99'. JNCO jeans were just fading out of popularity, thank god.

Red hair is a woman’s game.

The harsh truth is, most red-haired men look like blonds who’ve spoiled from lack of refrigeration. They look like brown-haired men who’ve been composted. Yet that same pigmentation that on a man can resemble leaf mold or junk yard rust, a woman wears like a tiara of rubies.

Not only are female redheads frequently lovely but theirs is a loveliness that suggests both lust and danger, pleasure and violence, and is, therefore, to the male of the species virtually irresistible. Red O red were the tresses of the original femme fatale.

Of course, much of the “fatale” associated with redheads is illusory, a stereotypical projection on the part of sexually neurotic men. Plenty of redheads are as demure as rosebuds and as sweet as strawberry pie. However, the mere fact that they are perceived to be stormy, if not malicious, grants them a certain license and a certain power. It’s as if bitchiness is their birthright. By virtue of their coloration, they possess an innate permit to be terrible and lascivious, which, even if never exercised, sets them apart from the remainder of womankind, who have traditionally been expected to be mild and pure.

Now that women are demolishing those old misogynistic expectations, will redheads lose their special magic, will Pippi Longstocking come to be regarded as just one of the girls? Hardly. To believe that blondes and brunettes are simply redheads in repressive drag is to believe that UFOs are kiddie balloons. All redheads, you see, are mutants.

Whether they spring from genes disarranged by earthly forces or are “planted” here by overlords from outer space is a matter for scholarly debate. It’s enough for us to recognize that redheads are abnormal beings, bioelectrically connected to realms of strange power, rage, risk and ecstasy.

What is your mission among us, you daughters of ancient Henna, you agents of the harvest moon? Are those star maps that your freckles replicate? How do you explain the fact that you live longer than the average human? Where did you get such sensitive skin? And why are your curls the same shade as heartbreak?

Alas, inquiry is futile: Either they don’t know or they won’t say — and who has the nerve to pressure a redhead? We may never learn their origin or meaning, but it probably doesn’t matter. We will go on leaping out of our frying pans into their fire, grateful for the opportunity to be titillated by their vengeful fury, real or imagined, and to occasionally test our erotic mettle in the legendary inferno of their passion.

Redheaded women! Those blood oranges! Those cherry bombs! Those celestial shrews and queens of copper! May they never cease to stain our white-bread lives with super-natural catsup.

L.A. Gear Relaunch... hmmmm

If you had them you wore them with your scrunch socks and leggings. If you owned the light-up version you pretty much owned the playground. At least that's what I remember about L.A. Gear sneakers, I never owned a pair but my mom did try to compensate by painting my keds like a kitty and buying me those elastic curly bright green shoelaces. But with the re-launch of L.A. Gears coming up December 12th I will have a chance to own the coveted hightop sneakers I once lusted after as a 8 year old girl. Their website is pure shit, they could have done some really cool stuff with branding/marketing but regardless it will be interesting to see if their comeback will be successful. I'm sure the hipsters will undoubtedly gobble them up.

The ads are ridiculously 90's and hilarious.!

Cannonball Press is pretty amazing and insanely ambitious. Their collaborate prints that are 12 ft. x 23 ft., HUGE. As a shitty printmaker I honestly can't imagine tackling a woodblock that size, it makes my hands hurt just thinking about it. Stop by their site!

Add all ingredients, and beat and cut until smooth and hot. Do not add Fine Art at this point. Add master-printer, work him into a steady boil, edition.Throw Fine Art in trash.

Lux Lisbon played by the lovely Ms. Kirsten Dunst is one of my favorite on screen female characters. She's the girl you bad mouthed in highschool but longed to befriend, all the boys wanted her but she was too much for any of them to handle and they knew it. She represents virginal pre-womanhood and all of it's potent beauty. She carries such intense sadness and mystery behind her steely blue eyes, she's a dorment volcano of adolescent lust.

I always thought of Lux as sort of a super hero, so confident, so cool, so unattainable. I think any girl who saw this film whilst in highschool like I did studied her, wanted to be her. "The Virgin Suicides" was the first Sophia Coppola film I'd ever seen, I loved the way it looked and made me feel. When Tripp finally catches the attention of Lux, it leads to her downfall, I'm convinced she dies from a broken heart. When she loses her virginity to Tripp, then he leaves her on the football field and it was like her mystery, her magic had dissolves in the morning light. Lux was the heart of the girls, the silent leader of the Lisbon sisters. There was never really a solid explanation as to why they commited their group suicide but it always seemed like representation of something all women go through, a metophorical death of our childhood through the loss of our virginity. Maybe seeing somebody as powerful as Lux fall from grace meant certain doom to the other girls, maybe Lux orchestrated the whole group suicide, I've never been sure. The only thing that I do know is that the power of virginity in every culture is praised and cultivated since the beginning of time. I stumbled upon some fascinating stuff via Wikipedia about the order of Priestessses know as The Vestals, here's a little bit about them...

The dignities accorded to the vestals were significant.

in an era when religion was rich in pageantry, the presence of the College of Vestal Virgins was required in numerous public ceremonies and wherever they went, they were transported in a carpentum, a covered two-wheeled carriage, preceded by a lictor, and had the right-of-way;
at public games and performances they had a reserved place of honor;
unlike most Roman women, they were not subject to the patria potestas and so were free to own property, make a will, and vote;
they gave evidence without the customary oath;
they were, on account of their incorruptible character, entrusted with important wills and state documents, like public treaties;
their person was sacrosanct: death was the penalty for injuring their person and their escorts protected anyone from assault;
they could free condemned prisoners and slaves by touching them - if a person who was sentenced to death saw a vestal virgin on his way to the execution, he was automatically pardoned.
they were allowed to throw ritual straw figurines called Argei, into the Tiber on May 15.

These 30 years were, in turn, divided into three periods of a decade each: ten as students, ten in service, and ten as teachers. This would have required them to submit to the authority of a man, with all the restrictions placed on women by Roman law. I may have to break down and buy a new, cookie cutter record player because my old vintage beast weighs 50lbs and that's an expensive shipping job. Hopefully I can get all of my records out here without too many casualties, I'm nervous. I'm sure the records I own are 10X the amount here than when I purchased them for out in the middle of nowhere. I miss that scratchy, warm sound.
Ben with my beauty and some of my records... The days in my old apartment, riding bikes (werewolf bike club) everyday, working at the coffee shop, listening to records and dancing in my living room, it really was amazing. Ahhh college, how little I remember about the actual school portion of it all.

I came home to find that AMC was having a Batman Marathon and I got to thinking, I don't actually like any of the actors chosen to play Batman. If I had to choose my favorite it would be Michael Keaton but that's only because I think the Tim Burton versions of Batman are the best by far. Batman & Robin and Batman Forever are terrible movies, I can't even sit through that garbage. The first and the last installments have been great films.

I know all little boys wanted to be Batman, but all little girls wanted to be Catwoman. Minus Halle Berry's failed attempt to capture Catwoman's sex appeal and darkeness, Julie Newmar (the original Batman series) and Michelle Pfeiffer(Batman Returns, come on that bird in mouth scene is beyond epic) brought different but extremely amazing depths to the character. If we didn't want to be the bad girl we wanted to be Vicky Vale, a strong willed, Vogue photographer torn between work and pleasure. Honestly the minute you think these ladies were typical damsels in distress they'd remind you that there was more to them then just a pretty face or black latex. Let's take a moment to oogle three gorgeous women of Batman, praise the catsuits and the side braid!

I'm a huge fan of 50's and 60's music, something about it was so pure. I appreciate the time that they came from but some of these lyrics seem like sad, misogynistic torture. Especially The Crystals- He Hit Me (and it felt like a kiss) and Lesley Gore- That's the Way Boys Are. I find it interesting that these two songs didn't even raise an eyebrow. It's kind of funny actually, a sociological study in the pre-women's liberation movement based on music alone would be an interesting essay to research. There is plenty of material (songs) out there, written by men and performed by high profile women that have similar lyrics. I'm not a feminist by any means, I'll be the first to laugh as unshaven armpits and the thought of "equal" treatment. We are completely different men and women in mind and body, now "fair" treatment based on circumstance is a much better approach. As far as I'm concerned we all have our special talents, I can give birth yet I can't carry a 50lb box up my stairs, see my point? Anyway peep these lyrics and listen to these songs, hopefully you have enough sense to either be shocked or laugh a little, they are amazing songs musically as well.

Movie Night

I just viewed 'An Education' and I must say although it's visually beautiful there's really only a couple things that stood out about the film, the soundtrack and Carey Mulligan's acting skills. Although the trite "build your mind girls, don't rely on men they will let you down" theme that was played upon throughout the entire film was redundant to say the least, she was the only thing that saved the film from becoming completely void of content. I did actually enjoy watching, it was light and airy but there were so many loose ends and a lack of climax or catalyst in most of the turning points of the film. Another glimpse of hope was the comedic relief supporting actress Rosamund Pike brought to the table, she was wonderfully daft yet sweet and that was an untapped gold mine if you ask me, I wanted to see more of her. It's worth seeing, there are definitely great scenes, the costume design and art direction were spectacular.
